With the goal of fostering networking and professional development within the industry, Talents & Training collaborates specifically with international initiatives in which filmmakers or projects from Austria participate. Current collaborations include offerings such as
- MOP Meetings – international, entry-level co-production and networking forums held annually for emerging film producers during the Max Ophuels Film Festival in Saarbrücken, Germany
- INTRO:DOX programme for emerging filmmakers/producers during CPH:DOX film festival, Copenhagen
- Producers LINK (Young Horizons & Cinekid), Warsaw & Amsterdam
- Creative Producer INDABA, South Africa & Réunion
- EKRAN+ – European Training Programme for directors/scriptwriters-directors, organised by Wadja Studio and Wadja School, Poland.
Another goal is to support an annual international workshop so that it can take place in Austria and enable the local film industry to network internationally and further its professional development. The following are planned: 2026: APostLab; 2027: TorinoFilmLab / ComedyLab.
In addition, the department supports the BMWMKS Film Department’s start-up grants (Startstipendien): Together with Cinema Next, it oversees the grant program, which consists of exams and mentoring sessions.
Talents & Training also organizes events for the film industry:
Public Experts Talks are offered in collaboration with experts from the Talent LAB curriculum to make the Talent LAB’s content accessible to the entire industry.
In collaboration with Cinema Next, the “Fokus Debüt” format (screening and discussion) is held in conjunction with a theatrical release, featuring a conversation with the emerging filmmaking team about their experience making their first feature film.
As part of the Industry Afternoon at the Crossing Europe Film Festival in Linz, case studies are presented to give emerging filmmakers insight into European co-productions.
