CIRCLE Women Doc Accelerator 2021 – Call for Projects

CIRCLE Women Doc Accelerator 2021 is looking for up to 12 women filmmakers (directors or producers) with a strong creative documentary project in any stage of production (from development to rough cut) who are seeking further support to upgrade their professional skills, develop their films with leading experts and bring them to the wider professional audience.
The program of CIRCLE 2021 features 3 tailor made sessions in 3 different countries*, focusing on different aspects of project development:
Module 01: 2-6 June 2021 (TBC), Montenegro
In-depth analysis of projects
The first module is focused on creative development through an intense in-depth analysis of the projects with expert script writers and producers aiming to reach a new perception of each project, improve the content and their overall potential. A carefully and à la carte curated program consists of group work, exclusive case studies and one-to-one meetings with successful directors, inspiring producers and other film professionals. All experts are invited considering the concrete needs of up to twelve projects.
Module 02: 22-26 September 2021 (TBC), Croatia
Besides further creative development of the projects, the second module is dedicated to building up tailor-made production and communication strategies with help of leading experts specialized in packaging and marketing in order to raise international visibility and financing potential. Main focus is on strategic planning, communication, marketing and distribution strategies.
Module 03: January 2022 (dates TBA), Italy
Networking in the When East Meets West / Trieste Film Festival
The third module offers an additional introduction to current tendencies, tools and insights into documentary filmmaking through the WEMW tailor-made industry program. The highlight is on networking and presentation of the participants and projects to the potential partners and decision makers during the WEMW.
*Please note that due to the COVID-19 restrictions, CIRCLE Women Doc Accelerator 2021 may decide to adapt its program. The dates of the workshop might change and it could be partially or completely held online, during the announced time period (June 2021 – January 2022). Selected participants will be additionally informed about the program details.

Participation fee is 3000€, covering the pedagogical fee, accommodation and meals for all three modules. CIRCLE Women Doc Accelerator may allocate up to two scholarships for participants in need.
Selected participants will be eligible for three awards:
- Syndicado Film Sales award
- EWA Network – Women’s Talent Development Award
- Cineuropa Marketing Prize

CIRCLE Women Doc Accelerator is a three module training program addressing female-identifying directors and producers who are developing their documentary projects of international potential in any stage of production and are seeking support to develop their films and further their professional skills.
For those selected to participate, the year-round program offers a chance to work with leading experts and successful professionals – in order to improve their professional skills, analyze in depth their projects, dramaturgical challenges, production strategies, packaging and presenting the project to a wider audience, but also developing sustainable business models and connect to the global professional community.
